My Students:
Chisholm Trail FACS students are eager to learn their way around the kitchen! They come to us as sixth graders with minimal knowledge and cooking skills. By the time they leave as eighth graders they are confident and skilled enough to create healthy meals all on their own! Students learn basic kitchen skills and how to prepare healthy food.
My Project:
Family & Consumer Science classes focus on hands-on, experiential learning. We teach students important life skills they can use throughout their lives. As such, there is a lot of equipment involved! Blenders are used in all classes as students learn to prepare healthy smoothies using fruit, dairy, and even vegetables! We use skillets for things like cooking eggs, making veggie stir-fry, and grilling meat. Using these common pieces of equipment gives them confidence and improves their skills!
My Students Need:
We are seeking high-quality blenders and skillets for each of our kitchens so that students are able to learn how to use these items to prepare healthy meals and snacks.
