Vulnerable Students Count on the Community for Support

For over 25 years, Meeting the Need is what the Olathe Public Schools Foundation (OPSF) has done best. Day after day, year after year we work to support over 2,000 teachers and 30,000 students across the district.

Educators and staff members depend on the Olathe Public Schools Foundation to provide much of their student support. We help those who need us most in a variety of ways, but these four funds are vital:

  • Student Care Fund – This fund provides a helping hand to struggling families when their student(s) face an obstacle to learning. The OPSF might deploy this fund to provide gas cards to help Olathe parents get to a job or to provide assistance with mounting bills due to reduced hours at the workplace.
  • Student Health Emergency Fund –School nurses across the district access this fund to address health needs that students would otherwise go without. Year-round nurses are dispending funds for medication, prescription glasses, hearing aids and other medical needs.
  • Backpack Snacks – The OPSF works diligently to ensure our students do not go hungry. These critical funds guarantee our food-insecure students have access to groceries.
  • Homeless Outreach – on average, over 400 Olathe District Schools students are homeless. This fund provides needed services for students who find themselves without a permanent residence.

Please consider helping students with a donation to the Olathe Public Schools Foundation, including gifts to the Student Care Fund, Student Health Emergency Fund, Backpack Snack program and Homeless Outreach program. Your thoughtful support of $25, $50 or $100 makes a HUGE impact in the life of students who are facing unprecedented hardships.
