My Students:
Our school has many students with a variety of learning needs ranging from English language learners, resources students, and behavioral needs as well as the general population. We also have two Title 1 elementary schools that feed into our building. Our students come to us with a wide range of reading needs and abilities.
My Project:
With Scholastic Scope Language Arts magazines, we will be able to meet the needs of our population because the material includes differentiated activities that use the same text but activities at a variety of levels. The text is also interdisciplinary and makes connections to current day events. These magazines could also be used with social studies and science topics and classes. They also provide student choice in reading as well as grade level instructional material.
My Students Need:
Students need access to content at their learning level that is of high interest in order to be invested in their own learning and increase their language arts skills.
