Green Springs Elementary students are starting their NASA resumes early with robotics and coding activities related to NASA missions. These materials are provided through an Olathe Public Schools Foundation grant.
"We hope to integrate the hands-on learning of coding and robotics with real-world disciplines across various categories," said Green Springs Elementary Quest Teacher Genia Deets.
Historically, students with disabilities have had less favorable post-graduate outcomes than their general education peers. This includes their employment status, ability to live independently, and post-secondary education opportunities. The new Olathe Northwest High School Raven Roastery offers students with disabilities the opportunity to develop essential job skills in a supported environment.
At Oregon Trail Middle School, over 200 8th grade students are learning science concepts by exploring the Kansas River Watershed with visits to Oregon Trail Pond and Lake Olathe. A group of students visited the Olathe wastewater treatment plant and recorded back on their findings through pictures, video and water sampling.
