Grants

The Olathe Public Schools Foundation annually awards more than $150,000 in grants to Olathe educators across the district. Grants are awarded to support student needs and innovative ideas to overcome obstacles to learning.

Classroom Grants

Any Olathe Public Schools certified educator may submit a grant application. Classroom grant applications must be completed and submitted online. Google Chrome is the recommended browser.

Fall grant funds will be available for spring implementation.
Spring grant funds will be available for fall implementation.

Grant Types

Hidden Glen Visual Arts Grant: up to $2,000/application
Innovative Classroom Grant: up to $2,500/application
Need-Based Grant: up to $2,500/application
Building/District-Wide Grant: up to $5,000/application for innovative projects impacting multiple classrooms, grades, or schools
Susan Spears Memorial Kindergarten Grant: up to $2,000/application for projects focused on impacting kindergarten classrooms

Grant Approvals

Grant applications need school district staff approval to be considered for OPSF funding. Be sure to submit your application with enough time to receive approvals before the application deadline.

Building administrator approval: all grant applications
Technology approval: grants requesting hardware or software
Facilities and Operations approval: grants that will make modifications to the school facility (inside or outside)
Grants involving the purchase of book(s) or reading material(s) (both print and non-print) must go through the vetting process set forth by OPS Board Policy and/or OPS Guidelines for Additional Classroom Materials Selection.

Post Grant Assessments

If you previously received a classroom or Women's Giving Circle grant, complete a post-grant assessment.

Susan Spears Memorial Kindergarten

Special grant funds are available each year to kindergarten teachers through the Susan Spears Memorial Kindergarten Grant established to honor Susan Spears, a career educator in the Olathe Public Schools District. She taught from 1986 to 1998, when she became an Instructional Resource Teacher. Kindergarten teachers are encouraged to apply for a classroom grant that will impact their classroom and students. This grant is intended for kindergarten classrooms only. It is not meant to support multi-grade level projects.

Women's Giving Circle

The Olathe Public Schools Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle meets each spring and fall to select one grant to support with a $10,000-$15,000 grant. Members donate $100 prior to each gathering, and their resources are pooled to provide a grant to an Olathe educator who has a solution to overcome an obstacle to learning.

Applications are accepted spring (innovative ideas) and fall (student needs).
