My Students:
PLC is a school for students with emotional and behavioral disorders who struggle in traditional classes. PLC provides a structured, individualized environment for students to thrive in. The opportunity for students to design, build and plant their own garden would provide them with a chance to learn about where food comes from and how it is grown.
My Project:
Our school students learn best through hands-on activities with real-life application. This grant would allow us to provide engaging instruction and the opportunity for students to gain real-life skills. The project would begin in the science classroom with students learning about soil pH and texture. Then in technology class, students will have the chance to build raised vegetable beds. Finally, students will be able to tie what they know about soil to plant and grow vegetables.
My Students Need:
Our students need the supplies and materials to learn about how food is grown and the chance to create a garden of their own.
