My Students:
Chisholm Trail has 769 students from across all socio-economic statuses and from all kinds of family backgrounds. CST represents the wide array of diversity that is Olathe. Increasing drug awareness/prevention at this age level will make a huge impact as they begin developing their adult brains at this tender age.
My Project:
Red Ribbon Week is an annual drug prevention awareness promotion that dates back to the 80s. In order to bring the topic to the forefront and open discussion opportunities and using the power of positive peer pressure, amping up the involvement of the students by decorating classroom doors and offering drawings with giveaways based on information given out through announcements sent directly to them through their iPads will increase student engagement and buy-in.
