My Students:
The students live on the campus of TLC. All of our students have been exposed to trauma. A high percentage of our students are in foster or waiting for foster care. Our students work hard to overcome (or learn to manage) so many obstacles while here at Claire. The teachers and TLC therapist work together to help the student build relationships.
My Project:
Food is a need, cooking is a way to meet that need. Cooking with others builds trust and relationships. I would like teach our elementary students a normal healthy social activity. I would like to expose them to a variety of foods with an opportunity to discuss the food and preparation. While cooking they will learn kitchen safety, measuring, communicating and dialog.
My Students Need:
The students need to learn kitchen safety, exposure to different foods and how to dialog to build relationships.
