
Providing financial assistance to college-bound high school seniors remains a priority for the Olathe Public Schools Foundation. If you are a high school senior, take a look at each scholarship listed below and find out if you meet the criteria to apply.

R.R. Osborne Scholarship
This scholarship was established in memory of Robert R. Osborne to provide academic scholarships to students graduating from the high schools in Olathe District Schools who choose to pursue a career in business, education or medicine. The Olathe Public Schools Foundation will award an R.R. Osborne Scholarship annually to one graduating senior at each of the district’s high schools.
Schools: Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South
Eligible Students: Olathe high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in business, education or medicine
Amount of Scholarship: One student from each high school will receive a $5,000 scholarship, over four years

Ameila Shears Scholarship
Olathe High School, Class of 1953 has established a scholarship in honor of Mrs. Amelia W. Shears. Mrs. Shears taught English, Spanish, Latin and French for 47 years in Olathe schools.
Schools: Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South
Eligible Students: Olathe high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in education. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Bustillo Scholarship
The Bustillo family, with ongoing support from the Olathe ELL Advisory Council has established a scholarship benefitting students who participate in the Olathe District Schools’ ELL program.
Schools: Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Olathe South
Eligible Students: Olathe high school seniors who have participated in the district’s ELL program and who plan to attend post-secondary schooling or training. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

The Olathe South Band Booster Club presents two scholarships annually to Olathe South band members, in memory of Chris Shipley.

Curtis Marion Gordon Gilmore Scholarship
In memory of Olathe North student, Curtis Marion Gordon Gilmore, this scholarship honors the work of students who participate in broadcast/media production, forensics or theatre arts.

The Olathe District Schools “Grow Our Own” Educator Program was designed with three primary goals in mind: To increase diversity in the teaching staff; to increase the number of highly-qualified teachers in areas of teacher shortages; and to encourage Olathe district graduates and employees to consider teaching as a career.

Created by a legacy gift from Peggy Huggins in memory of her mother, Kathleen Macoubrie Smith, this scholarship recognizes the efforts of graduating seniors who plan to study English at the University of Kansas.

Eligible Students: Olathe high school seniors who plan to major in English or Education with an emphasis in English at the Unviersity of Kansas.

The Olathe Retired Employees Association supports this annual scholarship for students pursuing a degree in education.

Rob Jones Memorial Scholarship
Friends and family members of Rob Jones established this scholarship in his memory to provide a scholarship for an outstanding member of the Olathe South baseball team.

Established in 2004, in memory of Olathe South student Tara Peck, this scholarship recognizes outstanding student athletes whose dedication to their sport, teammates, classmates and community moves beyond the playing field.

Eligible Students: Olathe South high school seniors who have a minimum GPA of 3.0; varsity member of at least one high school athletic team; exhibit team leadership qualities; show outstanding drive and determination in athletic competition; provide inspiration to their team, helping teammates reach their highest potential; provide some service hours to their school, church or community; set an outstanding example of behavior in the classroom
