12th Annual Autumn Breakfast Event
The Olathe Public Schools Foundation held its 12th Annual Autumn Breakfast Thursday, October 29th at the Ritz Charles. Olathe South Principal, Phil Clark, returned again this year as the event’s master of ceremonies. The 2009 theme, The Joy of Learning, featured Dr. Patricia All’s State of the District address.
Olathe Medical Center was recognized as presenting sponsor for this event. Gold sponsors were recognized as well for their contributions at the $3,000 level including Credit Union of Johnson County, Garmin, KD Construction Company, Inc., and Major Saver Holdings, Inc. The event raised over $74,000 for the Foundation.
Dr. All spoke to crowd of nearly 500 Foundation patrons outlining the challenges, results, innovations and partnerships associated with the district. Although the district continues to have a growing number of students and less funding, Olathe claims an average ACT score of 23.3% and not only a 95.7% attendance rate but also a 94.9% graduation rate. Those statistics include students who enter the district after moving from another district, state or even country.
The Foundation presented a video highlighting the impact the organization makes on teachers, principals, students and families. They also presented the “new look” of the Olathe Public Schools Foundation unveiling a new, updated logo. Additionally, the Foundation debuted the launch of their new website. Patrons of the Foundation can go to www.olathepublicschoolsfoundation.org to discover all Foundation programs, forms, and other information at their fingertips including ringtones of your favorite high school cheers.
Highlights included Briarwood Elementary Students explaining to the audience the meaning of philanthropy, as well as the Olathe East Madrigal choir who presented a lively number entitled “Oye”.
