The food service employee who drills students with math facts as they come through the lunch line, the custodian who volunteers to stay after his work day to help struggling students with homework, or the district purchasing agent who works tirelessly to negotiate the best prices to save valuable district dollars are just a few reasons why the Olathe Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors created the new Classified Employee Excellence Recognition Award (CEERA).
The CEERA program will reward non-certificated employees of the Olathe Public Schools for outstanding service and excellence. Nominees might include paraprofessionals, secretaries, public relations, accounting, or human resources personnel, food service or custodial staff, grounds crew members, and many others. Nominations must be supported by three letters of recommendation from individuals who have interacted with the classified staff member and must outline how the nominee demonstrates a commitment to being a team player, is a positive role model for others, goes above and beyond in their job performance, and models the district’s staff guiding principles of children first, respect for all, teamwork, excellence and quality, and commitment to individual needs.
“We are excited to expand our recognition of excellence this fall as we launch this classified recognition program. CEERA will prove to be a fantastic program recognizing the excellence in service and performance that our staff demonstrates each and every day,” said OPSF Board President David Reinke.
Two staff members will be recognized each month, August through May beginning in August 2012, with a $500 award and other commemorative items. Nomination forms may be found at http://www.olathepublicschoolsfoundation.org/t-about-forms.aspx and are open to anyone who has a working relationship with the staff member in their capacity as an Olathe Public Schools employee.
